Zapping Goal! soccer club AS Saint-Etienne: Can we hope to see the executives stay?
The Ultras’ anger at the end of ASSE’s relegation against Auxerre (1-1, 4-5 on tab) will cost the Greens dearly. In addition to a sporting and pecuniary sanction which seems inevitable for the start of the Ligue 2 season, the Loire club has to deal with a major breakage in Geoffroy-Guichard and around the Cauldron.
Over €580,000 total damage
A few days ago, Sportfive, owner of the LED panel damaged during the sudden invasion of the pitch, estimated the damage at €500,000 before filing a complaint. In Le Progrès, it is the turn of Saint-Etienne Métropole to publish the bill for the scrapping. In the stadium, the cost of damage (cage nets, seats, artificial pitch around the lawn, forced gate, sunken mesh panels, partially or totally damaged property) is estimated at more than €80,000. A note to which must be added €6,000 of street furniture and degraded roads.
Three complaints having been filed, including one by the club, the Saint-Etienne prosecution has opened an investigation which promises to be long. “We are going to have to work on the video surveillance and video protection images, inside the stadium but also outside. This is going to take a considerable amount of time,” said District Attorney David Charmatz.
