The PGA Tour suspends players engaged in the LIV Golf Invitational Series

The sanctions brandished by the American circuit against players who violated the rules by going to the LIV Golf Invitational Series despite the refusal of the PGA Tour to grant them authorization have fallen.

This is the advantage of the shot gun!

At the very moment when Phil Mickelson and the 16 other members of the American circuit engaged in London for the first tournament of the LIV Golf Invitational Series typed their face-off, the email sent to the players of the PGA Tour written by the hand of Jay Monahan in which he explains the exclusion of dissident players from the PGA Tour.

A long letter that stigmatizes, among other things, those players who have chosen money – “money, money, and more money” one can read – rather than the history and legacy of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer Where Tiger Woods.

“You are the PGA TOUR, and this moment is about what we stand for: the PGA TOUR and what membership entails as a whole.

You play an essential role in its construction. I know you are with us, and vice versa. Our partners are with us too. The fact that your former TOUR colleagues can no longer tell is telling.

This week, the RBC Canadian Open is a shining example of what you’ve created with the PGA TOUR: a high field, an engaged sponsor, full hospitality tents, record attendance and global reach. »

“These elements are part of the TOUR’s DNA, built by the likes of Jack and Arnie, supported by Tiger and countless others – whose legacies are inextricably linked, with the PGA TOUR. This collective heritage cannot be bought or sold. »

And in the future?

Although some will be departing from theU.S. Open next week, we won’t see them again in a World Golf Championship (WGC) or the Presidents Cup scheduled from September 22 to 25, 2022 at Quail Hollow (North Carolina).

This decision also applies to future candidates for exodus such as Pat Perez, Bryson DeChambeau and patrick reed.

Regarding the follow-up, possible feedback from some, Jay Monahan explains that these questions would soon be addressed in full transparency.

In the letter above is the list of players concerned by the exclusion and the small asterisk * indicates the players who terminated their “membership” even before the sanctions.
