Kyrgyz tennis player Ksenia Palkina suspended for 16 years for match-fixing

The ax fell on Friday, after long months of investigations. Temporarily suspended since November 2019 by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), the independent body in charge of fighting corruption and doping in the discipline, Ksenia Palkina (32 years old, 163rd in the world in 2009) s was given a sixteen-year suspension, six of which were suspended “after acknowledging the facts”in addition to a fine of 100,000 dollars (about 95,000 euros), a large part of which is also suspended.

The facts in question: the rigging of numerous matches in 2018 and 2019. The Kyrgyz player was arrested by the French police in September 2019, during a trip to Clermont-Ferrand, a few months after participating and it seems arranged a meeting in another French tournament, that of Gonesse. One of the reasons for this sanction.

At the time, suspicious bets from abroad alerted the authorities. The Uzbek Albina Khabibulina (29 years old, 492nd in the world in 2011) was arrested at the same time and received a life ban from the ITIA last December. And a judicial investigation concerning the two players is still underway with the Pontoise prosecution.

For his part, Palkina “will be able to resume tennis from November 21, 2029”. Or in 2,763 days.
