Take a look at the provisional start list for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway if rain cancels qualifying again.
The NASCAR Cup Series is scheduled for the first of its two annual trips to Kansas Speedway this weekend for the AdventHealth 400.
Qualifying for Sunday afternoon’s 267-lap race around the 1.5-mile (2.414 kilometer) four-turn oval in Kansas City, Kansas is scheduled to take place at 5:50 p.m. ET Saturday night.
Right now, there’s only a 9% chance of rain, according to The Weather Channel. However, rain is expected the day before and each of the following three days, including race day, unfortunately, so the forecast could always change.
If qualifying is canceled, the metric would define the starting lineup, as we’ve seen many times so far this NASCAR Cup Series season.
The metric takes into account four variables: the driver’s finish in the most recent race, the car owner’s finish in the most recent race, the team’s ranking in the owner’s ranking and the ranking of the most recent lap. fast from the driver in the most recent race.
The first two categories are weighted at 25% each, which means they form a 50% weighted category for drivers who drive the same cars in each race. The third category is weighted at 35% and the fourth at 15%.
In case it rains and qualifying can’t take place, here’s what the starting lineup will look like.

If qualifying is not cancelled, the drivers occupying the even positions will qualify in reverse order in the first group, and the drivers occupying the odd positions will qualify in reverse order in the second.
Live Fast Motorsports’ Josh Bilicki would therefore make the first qualifying attempt in Group One, while Spire Motorsports’ Ty Dillon would make the 19th overall qualifying attempt and first in Group Two.
The five fastest drivers in each of the two groups qualify for pole position. This shootout determines how the top 10 line up. The rest of the starting lineup is set based on the speeds of the first lap, regardless of group.
