Paris 2024 Olympics: how the Minister of Sports justifies the price of places
PARIS 2024 – The Minister of Sports and the Olympics, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, said on Tuesday May 16 at the National Assembly that the prices of tickets for the Paris-2024 Olympics are “inferior” to those of previous editions while the second phase of sales is underway.
Asked about ticket prices by several deputies, in particular the chairman of the Finance Committee, deputy Eric Coquerel (La France insoumise), Amélie Oudéa-Castéra explained that it is “ exceptional moments, with exceptional athletes, who compete for the most important Gral. »

A second phase of sales is underway, during which 1.5 million tickets are offered, and it again creates dissatisfaction and frustration, as in the first phase.
Take inflation into account
“I hear about prices at 2,700 euros for the opening ceremony, prices at 700 euros for athletics, so I’m a little worried about the advertised prices”launched Eric Coquerel during a hearing dedicated to the sports budget.
Amélie Oudéa-Castéra assured that the organizing committee as well as the State and the host communities were committed to “the accessibility imperative” of the Olympics. And she recalled the million tickets at 24 euros (half of which is reserved for popular ticketing purchased by the State and communities).

“We have 10% of the mass of tickets which are higher than 200 euros (…) These prices are completely in line with the prices during previous editions of the Games and therefore (…) taking into account inflation, prices are lower than previous editions”she assured.
Attend the opening ceremony for free
With regard to the opening ceremony, of which 100,000 places are paying, on the lower quays of the Seine, the tickets are currently displayed at 2,700 euros, the lowest prices at 90 euros went first.
“We will especially have hundreds of thousands of people who will attend this opening ceremony free of charge”did she say. “It is only on the lower quays that tickets are paid for up to 100,000 people. For everything else, the gauge will be refined, it will be around 400,000, all of this will be confirmed in the next few days.did she say.

Initially, a gauge of 600,000 people, including 100,000 paying people, had been announced.
