It was, for this player of the Montchanin golf course, her 9th participation in the French team for this European championship.
From August 30 to September 3, the European Senior Team Golf Championship took place in Slovenia on the Arboretum course. 19 nations, with teams of 6 women, were in competition, including France.
This year again, the Avoise golf player, Marie-Ange Michaud had been selected for the French team – a source of pride for her and the Montchanin golf course.
The first two days of the competition, in strokeplay allowed to obtain a place in the quarter-finals, and the last 3 days in matchplay established the final classification.
The 6 players of the France team finished 7th after the first two days, which gave them a place in the quarter-finals. We note the beautiful 40th place, out of 114 players, of Marie-Ange Michaud in the general classification after this phase of qualifications.
Unfortunately, on the 3rd day in the quarter-finals, they were beaten by the Germans, with 3 games won against 1, and a draw.
They still hung on to fight for places 4 to 8. However, on the 4th day they lost against the English on the last hole, then on the final day against the Spanish.
They therefore finish, a little disappointed, in 8th place. The place remains honorable and deserves to be saluted! Germany wins the competition, followed by Sweden and Ireland.
See you next year for this time to try to win a medal – with the desire to see our selected local again.
