Brendon Hartley (Toyota #8) set the best time in the first free practice session of the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans in 3:29.441. He is ahead of two “factory” Glickenhaus, stars of the early session. The New Zealander signed this best mark in the last half hour of an afternoon marked by a changing sky and the appearance of a few drops of rain.
the Alpine clan had a scare when Matthieu Vaxivière was seen in slow motion on the track. Fortunately, the French team does not seem to suffer from a serious problem.
In LMP2, we notice the good performance of the United team. L’Oreca #22 driven by Alex Lynn sets the 4th fastest time overall. In GTE Pro, the two Corvettes are ahead of the “factory” Porsches.
The afternoon was marked by a few incidents, particularly in the LMP2 category. The most serious touched Oreca #45 (Algarve Pro), Steven Thomas crushed the nose of his prototype in the pile of tires of the turn of the connection.
Qualifying takes place this Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., before the hyperpole tomorrow evening.
