Four French in the Draft!

The record is not broken, but France can boast of placing four players in the 2022 Draft. In 11th place, we find Ousmane Dieng who joins the Thunder. He is the 4th highest drafted Frenchman, behind Killian Hayes (7th in 2020), Frank Ntilikina (8th in 2017) and Joakim Noah (9th in 2007). An 11th place that the French know well since it is in this place that Tariq Abdul-Wahad (1997), Jerome Moiso (2000) and Mickael Piétrus (2003) were chosen.

Further down in Draft 2022, we then find Moussa Diabate, selected by the Clippers in 43rd position. The Michigan interior was averaging 9 points and 6 rebounds, and he caught the eye of the scouts in the Draft Combine.

Then it was Denver, used to the French, who chose Ismael Kamagate in 46th position, from Paris Basketball. Like his teammate Juhann Begarin, the young interior will stay in Europe next season.

Finally, in last place in the second round, the Bucks selected Hugo Besson, Dieng’s teammate at the New Zealand Breakers. A renowned franchise where he will be able to rub shoulders with former NBA champions on a daily basis. It is an ideal situation to prove that it is better than this 60th place in the Draft.

As for the French record in a Draft, it dates from 2016 with five representatives: Guerschon Yabusele, Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, Petr Cornelie, Isaiah Cordinier and David Michineau.
