A cruel ending
While they had opened the scoring quickly (0-1, 12 ‘) and had regained the advantage just before the break (1-2, 45’+1), the Guingampais were picked at the very end match and saw the scenario completely reversed in six minutes at Geoffroy-Guichard, this Saturday evening. Saint-Étienne had never led in the score during the match before this 88th minute and the goal of Wadji (3-2, 88 ‘), intervened six minutes after the equalizer from Etienne, by Cafaro (2-2, 82 ‘) . A crazy end to the game to which Stéphane Dumont’s men exposed themselves, unable to score the third goal during three quarters of the second period.
Courtet’s magical inspiration
Stéphane Dumont had chosen to take the Courtet – Guillaume duo back to Geoffroy-Guichard, and he did well, especially for the first of the two. Because it was he who concluded with a magnificent gesture a very lively first period. With a strike full of instinct 25 meters from goal which completely deceived Gautier Larsonneur, Gaëtan Courtet allowed the Guingampais to return to the locker room in the lead (2-1, 45 ‘), at the best of times, one could think. Previously, it was the Bretons who had already taken the lead, through Amine El Ouazzani (1-0, 12 ‘), before being joined following a mess on a corner (Moueffek, 1-1, 21’).
Youfeigane assured
For his second tenure in a row, Dominique Youfeigane did not fail in Saint-Étienne and he even did better than that. In the defeat, the usual goalkeeper number 2 of Guingampais, number 1 during the suspension of Enzo Basilio, has several decisive parades. An early match (9′) which allowed the Bretons to better enter the game and an end of the second period in front of Wadji (90’+1), which would have definitively sealed the match. The rest of the time, like against Laval last week, he was reassuring in his interventions. He couldn’t do much on the three goals conceded, even making an authoritative save on the second (2-2, 82′).
