Eric Olhats, ex-adviser of Griezmann, indicted and placed in detention for sexual abuse of minors

Recruiter and former adviser to Antoine Griezmann, Eric Olhats is indicted and placed in detention for sexual abuse of minors under the age of 15.

Since Wednesday morning, Eric Olhats, former adviser to Antoine Griezmann and recruiter for several clubs, has been in police custody for alleged acts of sexual assault on a minor. This Thursday evening, after less than 48 hours in the premises of the judicial police of Bayonne, the public prosecutor announces his indictment for the count of sexual assaults on minors under fifteen years old by person having abused the authority conferred on him by his position and also for the detention of pornographic images of minors. He is being taken into custody tonight. He faces a ten-year prison sentence. He remains presumed innocent.

Alleged facts dating back to the 1990s and early 2000s

This Thursday morning, after more than 24 hours before the investigators, the Bayonne prosecution had already announced to RMC Sport the extension of this police custody. As indicated on Wednesday evening, the alleged facts date back to the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s. According to our information, the victim was a player from Bayonne who was a minor at the time of the events. The complaint dates from August 2021. Reports of touching and sexual assault would also have been reported to the investigation services.

As a reminder, until 2016, Eric Olhats was Antoine Griezmann’s adviser. It was he who brought the French international to Real Sociedad at the start of his career. The recruiter had already had to deal with justice. In September 2010, the former manager of Aviron Bayonnais won his appeal in a case of corruption of minors.

He disputes the facts

In 2019, an anonymous letter arrived at the Bayonne prosecutor’s office in which a person claims that Eric Olhats would have made inappropriate gestures towards young players while he was performing the duties of coach and recruiter. The PJ of Bayonne was directly seized of the file.

In total, as RMC Sport announced on Wednesday evening, several complaints targeted Eric Olhats. Three former players of the defendant filed a complaint for acts of sexual abuse committed between 1998 and 1999. The young men were under fifteen years old at the time of the alleged facts.

As announced, Olhats (59) was therefore arrested on Wednesday morning by the Bayonne PJ at his home and then placed in police custody. The man disputes the facts of which he is accused. The investigating judge indicted him this Thursday evening for two counts: sexual assault on minors under the age of fifteen by a person who abused the authority conferred on him by his position and also the count of detention of pornographic images of minors. In accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution, he was placed in pre-trial detention.
