Recruited by OM from Lens against €7.5m to €9m excluding bonuses, Jonathan Clauss gave his first words at the microphone of the Marseille club. “It’s an exceptional pride to join a mythical French football club, an extraordinary honor to be able to put on this jersey. OM represents French football, I think that’s very clear. Around the world, when we talks about the French championship, we know OM”, explained the 29-year-old right-back.
“Longoria? I recognized myself in his speech”
The French international (4 caps) then shared what convinced him to sign for OM: “The greatness, the values, the club’s project. There are so many things that have been put in place to make me want to join this club. For me, it was very logical. (…) J I especially exchanged with the president (Longoria, editor’s note), who called me often, very often. I recognized myself in his speech, we are similar on many aspects. It seemed normal to me.
And to project themselves on their personal objectives: “Do at least as well as last year with Racing Club de Lens. And at least as many selections with the France team. I am in a continuity, I want to prove that I am there because I deserve it and that I have the qualities to do so. It’s up to me to show, but I know I’m capable and I’ll do everything for it.”
