Chloe’s Dream dies at Churchill Downs on Derby Day

Another horse died at Churchill Downs on Saturday, the Courier Journal confirmed. The death came in the sixth ahead of the 149th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Chloe’s Dream was evacuated after Race 2 – which was on a dirt road – and euthanized due to a right front knee injury, The Courier Journal has confirmed.

Jockey Corey Lanerie was making the first turn when Chloe’s Dream came to a halt, about 23 seconds into the race.

The gelding “turned badly coming out of the first turn, stopped and ran out,” according to Equibase’s race report.
