At 14, she qualified for the 3rd consecutive time for an LPGA tournament!

Teenager Gianna Clemente will be in the field for the Kroger Queen City Championship. The American came out on top for the third time in as many weeks in the Monday Qualifier.

The fine performance of Lucy Li last week in Sylvania brought back images of the American who had competed at just 11 years old, ice cream in hand, theUS Women’s Open 2014.

In a few years, it may be those of Gianna Clemente that American TVs will come out to talk about her first steps as a teenager on the LPGA.

From the height of her 14 years, she has just won her ticket for the third consecutive week for a test of the LPGA coming out of qualifying on Monday.

The Monday Qualifiers are played over 18 holes on the Monday before the tournament and offer some places to the best players as is also the case on the PGA Tour.

A first in Canada

Gianna Clemente is therefore a precocious. She held her first clubs at the age of 2 and therefore made her Ottawa debut at the CP Women’s Open. A first experience which ended with a missed cut despite a good first card of 69 (-2).

It was a bit chaotic the first day because you have to plan the practice games and I had no idea how it was going.she explained at the microphone of the LPGA. My dad had a business meeting the first day, so I had to manage on my own at first. Even if I missed the cut, this first experience on the Tour with my father on the bag and to share that with him, it was great.

Two at home

Among amateurs, the teenager has already taken part in two US Women’s Amateurs (2019 and 2022) and ranks 102nd in the world.

Last week at Dana Open rebel!

She qualifies on Monday thanks in particular to a birdie at 17. An event she played almost at home since she was born in Youngstown, in the same state of Ohio.

The triple world champion in the youth categories also regularly came to admire the world stars in previous years and in particular Lexi Thompson of which she is a great admirer.

Unfortunately again Gianna Clemente missed the cut. Three shots this time.

And as the saying goes, never two without three. This Monday before Kroger Queen City Championship the young player, born on March 23, 2008, won one of the two places at stake during the qualifier.

Will she finally make her first career cut? Response Friday evening.
