AS Roma hold out against Leicester in the semi-finals of the Europa League Conference

Back in England, José Mourinho showed that he had not lost his know-how by joining AS Roma: the Portuguese team suffered a lot this Thursday evening in Leicester, in the semi-finals of the League Europa Conference, she conceded many more strikes than she tried, but she returned to Italy with a draw (1-1) which suits her perfectly.

Roma almost pulled off the perfect heist

She even glimpsed victory thanks to the opener from Pellegrini, nicely served by the excellent Zalewski before hitting between the legs of Schmeichel (0-1, 15th), and she came close to the hold-up when Abraham enhanced one of the few balloons that reached him. The striker’s backheel was taken over by Oliveira who made Schmeichel shine (80th), very happy to avoid a second goal which would have been seen as an injustice by Leicester.

The English dominated most of the time and Rui Patricio had to repel Lookman’s strike (34th) and that of Maddison (42nd), whose dribbles regularly tormented the Roman defense. But she was only beaten when Lookman pushed Mancini to score against his side, receiving a cross from Barnes who had done most of it by overflowing in the area (1-1, 67th). Entering in place of Vardy, who failed to showcase himself despite the grip of his team, Iheanacho worried the Italians more (72nd, 78th), who will have to be more comfortable with the ball on Thursday next in Rome, if they want to reach the final and hope to lift the first European trophy in the history of their club.
