🗓️ A new calendar for ASSE in 2023/2024

For the second consecutive year, AS Saint-Étienne should play in Ligue 2 during the 2023-2024 season. Laurent Batlles announced at a press conference last week a final week of preparation in La Plagne in internship from July 22 to 26 in order to emphasize the cohesion within his team: “The planning of the internship in La Plagne was in relation to certain dates and certain teams, which will be there before us. The facilities are very interesting, there will be a friendly match before and another on the way down. It was important to go there differently compared to last year, with perhaps a more established group because we had gone there early. There, it will be later to give the group time to form and insist on cohesion.

In addition, all friendly matches are almost complete and the group should return to collective training at the end of June, beginning of July. The summer transfer window will begin on Saturday June 10, 2023 and will end on Friday September 1, 2023 while the winter transfer window will open on Monday January 1, 2024 and will end on Wednesday January 31, 2024. Ligue 2 BKT will resume a month later. late on weekends August 5, 2023 and will extend to 1May 8, 2024. Like this year, matches in Ligue 2 will be played over two days: a poster on Saturday at 3 p.m., eight matches on Saturday at 7 p.m. with the multiplex and the last poster on Monday at 8:45 p.m.

The Rugby World Cup which will take place in France next September will force the clubs mobilized to adapt. On August 12, the Blues will come to play a preparation match in Saint-Étienne against Scotland. The second day of Ligue 2 falling on the same date, ASSE should therefore play away that day, consequently the Greens should start the Ligue 2 championship on August 5 at home.

The Geoffroy-Guichard stadium will also host four matches during the World Cup, which means that ASSE will not be able to enjoy its stadium during these four meetings. Three dates are problematic, Sunday September 17, Friday September 22 and Sunday October 1, 2023 because a championship day is scheduled for these weekends.

Next season, four weeks will be standardized for international matches (weekend of September 9, October 14, November 18 and March 23). The last game of 2023 will take place on Wednesday, December 19 2023the winter break will last until the weekend of January 6, 2024. The recovery will take place with a Coupe de France match for the teams still qualified for the 32nd finals. For this the Greens will have to pass two rounds and will enter the competition on November 18. The final of the competition will take place on May 25, 2024 at the Stade de France. Ligue 2 will resume on January 14, 2024.

The 2023-2024 season will mark the return of the Play-offs for accession to Ligue 1. As in previous seasons, the first two in the championship will be promoted to the next level. The fifth in the championship will move to the fourth in a dry match on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The winner will go on Friday, May 24, 2024 to play against the third, there in a knockout match. Finally, the surviving team of these two meetings will play their climb against the 16th in Ligue 1, Thursday May 30 (go) and Sunday June 2 (return). Downhill side, like this year, four Ligue 2 clubs will go down to National 1 at the end of the 2023-2024 season, there will be no dam in this direction, that is to say that the 20th, 19th, 18th and 17th in Ligue 2 will be demoted to the lower level. To know the exact calendar of the Greens, it will be necessary to wait another month. In the meantime, here is the calendar of competitions proposed below by the official website of the LFP.
